Roots.

The world above is as alive as the world below.

The tree represents the balance between the union of the elements of nature and the foundation of the family, as well as its links, lineage, and passage through time.

The tree, a symbol of endurance and growth, was chosen to represent the concept and brand of Waugh Family Wines, connecting their ancestors and their descendants.

The tree grows both upwards and downwards. Through its roots, it nourishes and is nourished by Mother Earth; the stronger the tree’s roots, the more sturdy, healthy, and beautiful it becomes. This nurturing aspect is a reflection of our care and value for our customers and partners.

It is a symbol that is airtight. “What is at the top is what is below”. This interconnectedness is what binds us all into a larger, unified community.

A virtuous cycle of both natural union and evolution.

The tree, a powerful symbol in Celtic culture, holds a significant place in the hearts of the people of Scotland, Ireland, and England. Understanding that the Waugh surname has its roots in Scotland, we chose to stylize the symbol of the ‘Tree of Life’, a graphical representation of power and balance, as a nod to our rich Celtic heritage.

In the context of the wine market, the tree symbolizes the channel through which the grape grows and matures, finally interacting with the hands of those who harvest and manufacture this “nectar of the gods.” This process, which gives a special flavor and a wonderful experience to those who consume it, reflects our commitment to quality and tradition.

Graphically, we convey the entire concept and representation through an illustration where the treetop is a mosaic Celtic interlacing, both aesthetically and harmoniously. And the root, which is also the letter “W,” can be seen as two overlapping glasses of wine that sustain and nourish the tree.

Our brand is not just visually appealing, but also a testament to our commitment to quality and sophistication.

But we didn’t stop there. There was more to do in Napa Valley.

After the good reception of the new logo for Waugh Family Wines, we were presented with another great opportunity & challenge: To maintain the high level of conceptual and visual quality, and exceed the creative expectations for a large project which is, of course, the inauguration of “The Caves at Soda Canyon.”

With our past success as a foundation, we are confident in our ability to deliver a successful project.

We sought inspiration from nature and the positive archetype of the cave, which refers to a connection to the elements not only of the earth but being inside the earth, and transports the individual to a different atmosphere.

This unique experience will allow the person an unforgettable and completely new experience in terms of wine, wine making, and wine tasting, making them excited about the potential of the project.
