Branding

Elegance.
Copa was commissioned to create the official logo of Vernon Davis, a football superstar, Bay Area legend, Super Bowl champion, and one of the best Tight Ends in NFL History.
This has been one of our most intense projects to date, as Mr. Davis is widely known worldwide. The entire project involved creating something unique and personal for Vernon. The implementation consisted of the official logo launch, official typeface, and style guide.
After review, Vernon loved the logo, a testament to our ability to meet high expectations. It is now ’his’ logo and one which will be known worldwide soon.
“Be a leader, not a follower. Never let anyone tell you what you can and cannot be.” Vernon Davis
As diverse as Mr. Davis was on the field, he is just as diverse off the field. Excellence is the only option. Therefore, his logo, designed with utmost adaptability, reflects this diversity and can seamlessly transcend and cross multiple consumer lines. From sports to business and even casual lines, Vernon’s logo hits every mark.

It was clear to us that the letters “V” and “D” should be present in the logo. But how could we combine them while still connecting the brand to Vernon’s great passion for football and his professional aspirations off the field? Our challenge was to create a logo that seamlessly transitions between the dynamic world of sports and the structured environment of corporate life, yet remains both inspiring and elegant.
Our journey began with sketching various shapes and symbols on paper, gradually refining them to a finish worthy of our distinguished client. Our co-founder and CCO, Leo Bandeira, was certain when he arrived at the graphic solution that the symbol he created would remain unchanged. And that’s exactly what happened. Vernon Davis quickly approved the logo on the first try, a testament to the efficiency of our design process. Touchdown!

The following season, he signed with his hometown Washington Redskins. Off the playing field, he has a deep passion for business and building economic solutions in his immediate community.
